How much caffeine is too much?
Health Canada recommends that healthy adults have no more than 400 mg of caffeine a day – about three 237 mL (8 oz) cups of brewed coffee. For people who are pregnant, breastfeeding or planning a pregnancy the limit is 300 mg a day – and Leanela itself is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Teens 13 and older should stay under 2.5 mg per kg of body weight; Leanela is not for anyone under 18.
One Leanela sachet (120 mg) mixed into a brewed coffee can bring a single cup to around 250 mg. Heavy coffee drinker? Mix your sachet with water and you avoid doubling up.
Keeping caffeine in check
- Treat your sachet as one of your caffeinated drinks for the day, alongside coffee, tea, cola and energy drinks.
- Have it early so it doesn’t interfere with your sleep.
- Shaky, heart racing or sleeping badly? Stop taking it and speak with a health care provider.
- Heart condition, high blood pressure, anxiety or regular medication? Ask your doctor before you start.
